Long Distance Relationship
Story of the Week
Kevin and I have been together for two years now. From the start of our relationship he has worked for a company that sends him all over the US. Currently he is in California. It's not as though I didn't know what I would be getting myself into.
I knew of course from the start he would be traveling all the time and gone for weeks at a time, and only see him for a couple of days before he had to go back for more. Still, every time I bring him to the airport or say goodbye before he drives away, I can't help but cry and feel aweful.
When I think about the good times that we spent together during the weekend that upsets me even more because I know he won't be there next weekend. We talk every day. Either through the phone or email. Sometimes I question whether or not our relationship will work, because I have heard people say that long distance relationships never work. We have never had any problem with trust and we have both devoted ourselves to one another.
I still can't help but question our relationship. I always worry that one day we are both going to get sick of the whole traveling thing and we'll break up. But there's also a part of me who wants to do whatever it takes to make it work. I stand by his decision to work away 100% because that's what he needs to do to make money and I am also attending college at this time.
I think eventually we will both meet in the middle. Right now life is just getting in the way! But I have hope. We have made it through this long, so I really don't see any problems in the future. So, for everyone out there who says long distance relationships never work, you are wrong. You just haven't found that right person yet.
