Long Distance Relationship
Story of the Week
My boyfriend and I were neighbours and high school sweethearts, we have been together nearly 6 years but the only problem was that his dream was to play baseball proffessionally, for years he played, we spent many summers apart while he was travelling around the world, sometimes I would barely see him at all!
However I would support his every move It sure was hard but nothing has been harder than the last 2 years while he was sent away to school on scholarship in Texas I was left in Canada 23 hours away and without him once again except for way longer. No matter how many times we have said goodbye to each other it never seems to get easier. Counting weeks days even hours till it was time to go.
We still stand hugging in my doorway weeping. Before every departure he wispers " I love you and you have got to beleive it" to comfort me and some how it always does. Long distance calls, huge phone bills a few letters is basicly all we have to connect. Looking back on a year we figure that he is barely around for 2 monthes and I feel that we miss out on so much of our lives that should be shared together like normal couples. However we love each other with all our hearts and it's that that makes our relationship grow even stronger and makes every goodbye a little less harder to say.To this day our friends and relatives cannot believe how strong we are to have overcome such long distances and for so long while still be faithfull and in love like the day we met.
When people tell me" I don't know how you can do it " I say to myself I don't have a clue how either! but I think that's where love overcomes all! One day we hope to be married so we never have to be apart again however looking to our futur I am afraid that we may always be living a long distance relationship. There are days when I want to give up and I feel really low, many nights crying in my bedroom,while my friends are going out with teir mate and having the time of their lives.
There are also days when I feel I can no longer trust him but then I talk to him again and he tells me everything is going to be alright. And it is! we are still together today, we barely ever argue, we trust each other completely and I believe that living through a long distance relationship like ours, seperated by such distance brought us closer together!
Somehow we are connected not only by the phone but by the heart.I believe that if it is true love it will overcome any distance..
