Long Distance Relationship
Story of the Week
Well my boyfriend and i have been together for 2 years. he attends West Point military academy in New York, and i go to school in rhode island. we are both from massachusetts, and met junior year of high school. we are now going to be sophomores in college.
He only comes home twice a year, 2 weeks in december and 3 weeks in june, with a rare occasional weekend here and there. we generally see eachother once every 2 months, sometimes shorter, sometimes longer. we have been like this for a year (since we both started college).
However, he goes away and trains every summer, last summer he was
at bootcamp and now he is in fort knox kentucky. i am usually very strong,
but it sometimes gets to me. we cant do the simple things like go to the
movies or out to dinner, or (my personal favorite) just staying in at night
and watching tv. we do have the BEST relationship because of the distance,
it has made us best friends. it definately either makes or breaks you...i
have seen it go both ways.
Fortunately, our experience made us. it answered every question we could have had. it is definately scarey at first, because u dont know what is goin to happen, but just let the relationship happen and time will definately tell. believe me, this kind of relationship isnt for everyone. it takes a strong commitment from both of you and a strong relationship.
It does get to me but it makes the time we spend together soooooo good. its worth all the time apart. just make sure u are HONEST and TRUSTING! you wont be together all the time, and u need to keep the communication flowing.
