Long Distance Relationship
Story of the Week
I never belived in long distance relationships at all...until this past year. I had always went by this saying in spanish "Amor de lejos, es amor de pendejos" which basically means, long distance love is for dummies! I live in California and I go to Yuma, Arizona (which is 6 hours away) about 3 times a year, to visit family.
I was up there in May with my mom for a last minute invite to a birthday party and I was hanging out with my cousins thinking it was a waste of time going out there when I saw this cute guy sitting at a table smiling at me. I got shy, smiled back but looked away. Later on my cousins husband introduced me to him as Jose. So we shook hands and smiled and I forgot his name so again I asked his name and he asked mine and we shook hands again! Then I walked away.
Later on in the night my mom points him out and says "I want you to marry someone like him one day! Go talk to him and get his number!" I laughed and he came and asked me to dance and we danced the whole night.Then I had to leave so we exchanged numbers and I called him the next day And we talked every night after that.
My mom and I went to drive almost every weekend so I can see him and he paid for everything!(Both me and my mom) She liked him right away so that was a good thing. He kept telling me he loved me and he wanted to marry me. I didnt know if he was serious but a month later he took me to buy a ring and outside of the jewelery store he got down on his knee and proposed! I was so happy!
I don't care if he's far from me for now, he loves me, I love him and we have a great phone plan! I email him 20 times a day to tell him I love him and I cant wait to see him. In fact im going in two days to plan my wedding!
Don't belive what anybody says that the distance wont make it work. Get past the distance and cherish every moment that you ARE together!
