Long Distance Relationship
Story of the Week
Dave and I met on the 4th of July on top of the Empire State Building.. We were both in High School and were delegates for the United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth. He was and is from Kansas and I am from Oregon (going to school in Idaho). I had lost the group of friends I was with, who were from the Northwest Bus. So I was wandering aimlessly around the top of the empire state building, and I saw a girl that I knew, and she was standing by Dave talking (they were both from the same bus).
I went over, thankful that I was with someone I knew, and was introduced to Dave. Right away we became friends. When the fireworks were over (looking down to Hudson Bay), Dave grabbed my hand and led me through the crowd (2000 people) and down 6 flights of stairs so we could meet the rest of the delegates downstairs. We walked back to the hotel hand in hand. We spent the rest of our time in NY, (about 3 days) together...we said our temporary goodbyes as both of our busses headed up to Niagara Falls. We spent our last day together wandering around the falls and seeing the sights. We said a teary goodbye, knowing that we may never see each other again. And his bus drove away.
That night, we were both in Ohio, and he called me. From that point on, I was in love. The rest of the summer and the next whole year after that were spent in correspondance through snail mail, and phone calls once or twice a month. It wasn't until this summer that our friendship became more serious, and developed into a relationship. Now we are both in college, and still to this day haven't seen each other. Which is a disappointment to both of us, but in time, hopefully we will be together again. We now send e-mail 3 or 4 times a day and call and write snail mail.
Many people just can't see how two people who haven't seen each other in over 2 years, can be in love. Truthfully, neither of us can expain it!
We both feel so lucky to have each other and we hope and pray that one day we will be together again.
